Breakthrough in cosmetology: German scientists have created a biodegradable mask that rejuvenates the skin. The revolutionary development from the Fraunhofer Institute stimulates natural collagen production and leaves no traces in the environment. The research results have been published in the authoritative journal Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology (JCD).
The innovative product is a system of silica gel pads on a non-woven base. When in contact with a special activating solution, the pads dissolve, releasing orthosilicic acid – a natural silicon compound that is present both in plants and in the human body, where it plays a key role in the formation of healthy connective tissue.
The developed prototype consists of five separate pads, strategically placed in the most problematic areas of the face: under the eyes, on the forehead, and near the corners of the mouth. The application procedure is simple: the pads need to be moistened with the activating composition and left on the skin for the recommended time to achieve maximum effect.
Laboratory studies have convincingly proven the ability of orthosilicic acid to stimulate collagen synthesis. Independent clinical trials conducted by the Dermatest institute fully confirmed the effectiveness of the innovation: participants in the experiment noted a noticeable reduction in wrinkles, increased elasticity, and improved skin hydration even before the completion of the four-week course of application.
The creators emphasize the environmental safety of their invention: the mask does not contain potentially harmful substances and completely decomposes without residue. Unlike traditional fabric and silicone masks, the innovation does not produce waste that pollutes water treatment systems, making it truly harmless to the environment.
