US President Donald Trump reported significant progress in resolving the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
As TUT.AZ reports with reference to foreign media, he stated this to journalists at the White House.
"I think we're making good progress. If we stop this [conflict], it will be a huge achievement. We're trying very hard, and I think we're close," the American leader emphasized.
He noted that his special envoy Steven Witkoff "is continuously negotiating" on the settlement in Ukraine: "He has excellent relations with both countries, and I believe we have good chances."
At the same time, Trump made the assertion that "Russia might want to take the entire [territory of Ukraine]." "If we hadn't intervened, they would have succeeded," said the White House occupant, noting that Washington "in some way recouped" the funds spent on supporting Kyiv through a deal with Ukraine on natural resources.
Trump added that he would ask the Chinese leadership for help in resolving the crisis.
