Record-breaking long-lived horse passes away: the horse once owned by a Hollywood star is gone
Moki, an Arabian stallion, who was recently officially recognized by the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest living horse on the planet, died in Florida — just a few weeks after the ceremonial confirmation of his unique age. At the time of death, the four-legged record holder was 40 years and 83 days old, which translates to about 115 human years.
Moki was born on February 21, 1985, on the farm of legendary actor Burt Reynolds. The noble animal was specially bred for the personal use of the prestigious Golden Globe and Emmy award winner and lived on his ranch until 1992, when it changed owners.
Subsequently, fate led the horse to Florida resident Arika Dzama. According to her accounts, Moki became not just a pet, but a real therapeutic helper for people going through difficult life periods.
"He loved to eat delicious food, was delighted with grooming, and happily bestowed kisses on everyone. Every day with him was truly special," Dzama shared in her memories.
The owner admits that she dreamed Moki would live until the ceremonial awarding of the title of the oldest horse, but the animal left this world earlier. Despite this, Arika feels proud that her pet's exceptional longevity received international recognition.
"This is something that will forever remain in my heart. He was truly an amazing creature," the American added.
