"The Oldest Child" was born in the USA

The Oldest Child was born in the USA

In the USA, a baby was born from an embryo that had been frozen for more than 30 years. The newborn was named Thaddeus Pierce, as reported by MIT Technology Review.

"Thaddeus Daniel Pierce, born on July 26, developed from an embryo that had been cryopreserved for a full 30 and a half years," the publication notes.

According to the magazine, a real record was set with the birth of the boy – Thaddeus is considered the "oldest child" in history.

As journalists discovered, the embryo was created as a result of an IVF procedure conducted in 1994. At that time, four embryos were obtained. One of them was immediately used for implantation in a woman, while the three remaining ones underwent cryopreservation and were placed in long-term storage.
