The most powerful supercomputer in Central Asia launched in Kazakhstan

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev visited the National Supercomputer Center Alemcloud in Astana on July 9, where he participated in the launch ceremony of a supercomputer based on NVIDIA H200 graphics processors.

As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to zakon.kz, the ceremonial launch of the high-tech system took place in the modern data center of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan with the support of international partners.

According to available data, the impressive supercomputer cluster has tremendous performance of up to 2 exaflops (from English exaFLOPS - a unit of measurement for computing system performance, equal to one quintillion (10^18) floating-point operations per second) calculated in FP8 format. This achievement makes Kazakhstan a leader in computing power throughout the Central Asian region.

The supercomputer is a complex system of multiple servers and data storage units. This advanced computing machine operates on the basis of GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) and is a powerful neural network, an embodiment of modern artificial intelligence technologies.
