Water Crisis in Tabriz: City Has Only 75 Days of Water Supplies Left
As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to the Mehr agency, the head of the Regional Water Company of East Azerbaijan, Yusif Gafarzade, announced a critical situation with water supply in the region at a press conference.
According to the official, the daily consumption of drinking water in the region reaches a colossal 12 thousand liters per second, and during peak hours this figure exceeds 13 thousand. The annual volume of water consumed amounts to an impressive 380 million cubic meters, which requires the immediate introduction of strict regulatory measures. In rural areas, consumption is also significant – 90 million cubic meters per year.
Gafarzade noted with alarm that five cities in East Azerbaijan have already found themselves in the "red zone" of water deficit, and nine more settlements, including Tabriz, are on the verge of a full-scale water crisis.
