California Prosecutor's Office Brings Charges in Record Heist of the Century: Seven Suspects Stole Jewels Worth $100 Million

As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to RenTV, the criminals acted so skillfully that they managed to carry out 24 bags of jewels while remaining completely unnoticed by passersby. Notably, the robbers did not use weapons, and no one was injured during the theft.

Two residents of Southern California were detained on June 16 of this year. They are charged with breaking into armored transport and stealing elite watches, gold, diamonds, and other valuables worth the astronomical sum of $100 million. The stolen treasures were being transported from an international exhibition held near San Francisco.

This crime is considered the largest jewelry theft in the history of the United States", – emphasized in an official statement from the American prosecutor's office, quoted by ABC News.

One of the accomplices in the daring robbery is already behind bars on another case and will soon face trial on new charges. The remaining members of the criminal group are still at large.

According to the prosecutor's office, the defendants in the high-profile case face up to 20 years in prison. Additionally, each of them may receive up to five more years of imprisonment on charges of criminal conspiracy to commit robbery.
