The General Prosecutor's Office of Romania extended judicial supervision for former presidential candidate Călin Georgescu for another two months.
As reported by TUT.AZ, the Digi24 TV channel, citing informed sources, announced the extension of restrictive measures against the politician.
According to the TV channel, Georgescu visited the prosecutor's office the day before, where he spent about 30 minutes. It is reported that the politician retains the right to appeal this decision through established procedures.
Recall that in February, the Romanian General Prosecutor's Office had already placed Georgescu under judicial supervision for 60 days. According to the restrictions, the politician is prohibited from leaving Romania without special permission from judicial authorities, publishing fascist, anti-Semitic, racist, or xenophobic content online, and carrying weapons. Additionally, he is required to regularly check in at the police station and appear before a judge upon first request.
Currently, Georgescu faces criminal charges on six counts, including incitement to actions against the constitutional order. According to investigators, the politician tried to destabilize the situation in the country with the help of a group of mercenaries led by military instructor Horațiu Potroi after the Constitutional Court annulled the results of the first round of presidential elections in Romania in December last year.
