Pakistan opened fire on the international border with India

Pakistani military opened fire for the first time on the international border with India, seriously violating the ceasefire. The incident occurred on Wednesday night, as reported by the Indian agency ANI citing military sources.

"Until yesterday morning, the Pakistani army had been violating the ceasefire only along the Line of Control, but now they have escalated the situation by violating the ceasefire along international borders, opening fire at night along the international border in the Paragwal sector in Jammu," sources said. The Paragwal sector is located in the Jammu district of the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, south of the Line of Control. It is situated along the officially recognized international border between India and Pakistan.

Tensions in the region continue to rise. Earlier, the Indian Army reported that on the night of April 29-30, Pakistani military opened unprovoked small arms fire across the Line of Control opposite the Naushera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor sectors in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian Army immediately responded with proportionate fire.

Ceasefire violations in the India-Pakistan border zone have been continuing for a week amid a sharp deterioration in relations between New Delhi and Islamabad following a tragic terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir that claimed the lives of 26 people.
