Lukashenko stated that his son Nikolai is not his successor

Alexander Lukashenko dispelled rumors about the political future of his youngest son in a candid interview

"No, he is not my successor. I knew you would ask about this. No, no. Ask him, you might offend him greatly with this," - stated the President of Belarus in a conversation with Time journalists.

He characterized Nikolai as "somewhat oppositional to a degree," while emphasizing that his son supports his actions, "understands, and is knowledgeable about everything."

In the same interview, Lukashenko made another bold statement, announcing that he does not plan to run for president of the country again.
