Iran refuses to negotiate a ceasefire under Israeli strikes

As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to Reuters agency, Iran has informed mediating countries about its unwillingness to engage in dialogue under current conditions.

In a report from Dubai, Reuters cites an anonymous source familiar with the situation regarding Iran's contacts with Oman and Qatar, although the informant's nationality is not disclosed.

"The Iranians have informed Qatari and Omani mediators that they will be ready for serious negotiations only after Iran finishes responding to Israel's preemptive strikes," the agency quotes its source, "Iran has made it clear that it will not negotiate while under attack."

According to the same source, earlier press reports claiming that Iran had allegedly asked Oman and Qatar to involve the US as a mediator in ceasefire negotiations and expressed readiness to resume nuclear talks do not correspond to reality.

No official statements on this issue have been received from Iran, Oman, or Qatar so far.

It is worth noting that Oman has acted as a mediator in US-Iranian nuclear program negotiations in recent months. The next round, scheduled for Saturday, was canceled due to Israeli strikes.

Reuters also reminds that Qatar previously acted as a mediator in contacts between Iran and Israel.

Both Oman and Qatar maintain good relations with Tehran and Washington, and also have direct contacts with Israel.
