Free public transport: where in the world you can ride without a ticket. We tell you about countries where buses and trains don't cost a penny.
According to TUT.AZ, one of the countries with free public transport is Luxembourg.
Since March 1, 2020, Luxembourg has completely eliminated fares for trams, buses, and trains throughout the country. This revolutionary decision applies not only to local residents but also to all tourists visiting the country.
In Estonia, as in Luxembourg, public transport provides free services for the local population. However, there is a nuance here – free travel is only available to citizens registered after 2013. Unlike Luxembourg, tourists in Estonia have to pay for public transport.
In Malta, the free travel rule has been in effect since October 1, 2022. Local residents can use free transport if they have a "Tallinja Kart" card.
In Serbia, from January 1, 2025, public transport in the capital Belgrade will become free, but only for residents of the city.
