Complete blackout in Bali: the island left without electricity

May 3, 2025 - The paradise island of Bali plunged into darkness: a massive power outage paralyzed the famous Indonesian resort. The state power grid company reported that the collapse was caused by serious damage to the underwater power cable connecting Bali with the island of Java.

The energy crisis erupted around 4:00 PM local time. The damage to the strategically important power line triggered a chain reaction - all power plants supplying the island ceased operation, leading to a complete blackout of the popular tourist region.

Indonesian authorities immediately responded to the emergency, declaring the elimination of the accident a top priority. Specialized teams were urgently dispatched to the scene to assess the extent of the damage and restore power supply as quickly as possible.

A ray of hope in this difficult situation: according to Reuters, power has already been partially restored in some areas of Bali, indicating the first successes in dealing with the consequences of the accident.

Notably, similar energy collapses occur in other parts of the world. Previously, a similar scenario unfolded between Spain and France, when an accident on the interconnection line and subsequent generation failure led to a large-scale blackout covering the territories of Spain and Portugal.
