In Vienna, an 18-year-old student was detained, suspected of preparing terrorist attacks and having connections with ISIS
As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to Kronen Zeitung, Austrian law enforcement agencies prevented a possible terrorist threat in the country's capital.
The elite special forces unit Cobra conducted an operation to detain the suspect in a Turkish bookstore. The decisive actions of the police followed after receiving alarming information from foreign intelligence services.
According to available data, the young man of Egyptian origin was active online under the pseudonym "Abu Layet." He distributed extremist content, studied methods of creating improvised explosive devices, and, particularly concerning, allegedly had a suicide vest at his disposal.
During the search, authorities found a mock explosive device and a range of evidence indicating his radicalization: extremist correspondence, video recordings of radical sermons, and detailed instructions for manufacturing explosives.
