A press conference was held at the White House with the participation of US President Donald Trump and Apple CEO Tim Cook, where a grand expansion of the company's production in the United States was announced. During the meeting, Cook presented the president with an exclusive glass plaque manufactured in Kentucky, reports 9to5Mac.
During the press conference, Apple announced ambitious plans to invest an additional $100 billion in the development of American manufacturing. This amount will supplement the already planned $500 billion that the company intends to invest over the next four years.
It's worth noting that previously Trump had threatened to impose substantial 25 percent tariffs on Apple products manufactured abroad if the technology giant did not increase production localization in the US.
During the event, the Apple CEO presented the US President with a symbolic gift - an exquisite glass plaque produced by Corning, mounted on a 24-karat gold base. The commemorative item is adorned with the Apple logo, Tim Cook's signature, and the iconic inscription: "Made in USA, 2025".
"For the first time: every new iPhone, absolutely every new Apple Watch, sold anywhere in the world, will contain glass covering made in Kentucky," Cook proudly stated.
