Moscow broke a historical temperature record: the capital heated up to +33.8°C for the first time in 145 years of meteorological observations. The previous maximum was exceeded by 0.4 degrees, Roman Vilfand, Scientific Director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, told "Lenta.ru".

"+33.8°C, and the previous record value was +33.4°C, which means the record was exceeded by 0.4 degrees. But in fact, tomorrow, of course, record values will be seen in many cities and regions of the European part of Russia," the meteorologist shared with the publication.

The day before, Vilfand warned about the issuance of storm warnings regarding extreme heat in many regions of the country. According to the forecaster's predictions, in the Central Federal District, thermometer readings may soar to +40°C, and in the Southern and Siberian Federal Districts, the heat will reach an even more impressive +42°C.
