A Su-34 fighter jet has crashed in Russia

In Nizhny Novgorod region, Su-34 crew successfully ejected after technical failure during training flight

As reported by TUT.AZ, today around 1:00 PM Moscow time (2:00 PM Baku time - ed.) in the Nizhny Novgorod region, an aviation incident occurred involving a Su-34 frontline bomber that was performing a scheduled training flight.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, during the landing approach, the aircraft experienced a critical failure of one of the landing gear deployment systems. "The crew made several attempts to fix the malfunction in the air, but all efforts were unsuccessful," the military department noted.

Following the instructions of the flight director, the pilots made the only possible decision in this situation - they directed the aircraft to a safe zone away from populated areas and successfully ejected. This competent decision helped prevent possible human casualties and destruction on the ground.

A search and rescue team was immediately dispatched to the crash site to evacuate the crew members. "According to information from the scene, both pilots are alive. The flight was carried out without ammunition. The plane crashed in an uninhabited area. There is no destruction on the ground," the Ministry of Defense emphasized.

A special commission of the Russian Aerospace Forces has been sent to the crash site to conduct a detailed investigation of all circumstances of the incident.

It is worth noting that the Su-34 is a modern Russian multifunctional fighter-bomber that entered service in 2014. This aircraft is designed to deliver high-precision strikes against enemy ground targets in any weather conditions and at any time of day. The combat machine develops speeds of up to 2,200 km/h and has a flight range of up to 7,000 km.
