During the funeral of Pope Francis, the Vatican deployed an unprecedented security system due to the threat of drone attacks
As reported by TUT.AZ, this is according to the publication National Interest.
"The Vatican's airspace was completely closed, including a strict ban on flights of any aircraft. These measures were aimed at preventing potential threats from the air during the funeral ceremony," the publication states.
According to the publication, security services expressed "serious concern" regarding homemade drones, especially considering the alarming trend of converting civilian UAVs into combat ones in Ukraine and the Middle East. Journalists emphasize that thousands of military personnel were deployed to ensure security in Rome and the Vatican, some of whom were equipped with specialized anti-drone systems.
The farewell to the pontiff took place on April 26. The solemn ceremony was held at the famous St. Peter's Square in the Vatican.
