According to the source, the unique space find weighing 24.5 kg was discovered in the sands of the Sahara in 2023. The meteorite, which received the catalog designation NWA 16788, exceeds the size of the previous record holder by an impressive 70%. Scientists have not yet been able to establish the exact period of this Martian visitor's stay on our planet.
"The preliminary valuation of NWA 16788 was $2-4 million. The identity of the buyer who paid the record amount remained unknown," the article states.
