American dermatologists have created the first scientifically based list of cosmetic ingredients that have proven real effectiveness for the seven most common skin problems - from acne to wrinkles. The revolutionary study, published in the prestigious Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, is based on a large-scale expert consensus involving dozens of leading specialists in dermatology.
This long-awaited list includes only components that received the highest ratings (7-9 points out of 9) from the majority of experts. The undisputed champion of the rating was mineral sunscreen, which experts strongly recommend for dryness, redness, and signs of photoaging. The honorable top positions were also taken by retinoids - vitamin A derivatives. These powerful compounds have demonstrated impressive effectiveness in fighting acne, pigmentation, wrinkles, oily skin, and enlarged pores.
The study becomes exceptionally important during the summer season, when consumers are most vulnerable to aggressive marketing and unverified advice from social media. Scientists particularly note: many modern cosmetic products contain dozens of active substances, however, this absolutely does not guarantee their effectiveness. Moreover, excessive skincare can seriously damage the skin and significantly worsen its condition. As Professor Murad Alam emphasizes, the effectiveness of skincare is determined not by the number of products used, but by the precise selection of truly working active ingredients.
