Weight loss drug masked cancer symptoms: 47-year-old man shares his tragic story

A 47-year-old British man shared a disturbing story about how a weight loss medication masked signs of cancer, reports the Daily Mail.

"Doctors mistakenly attributed the symptoms to side effects of the weight loss drug," said the man, who was subsequently diagnosed with late-stage bowel cancer.

Among the symptoms that were written off as "side effects" of the medication were nausea and bowel dysfunction - the patient experienced serious problems with defecation.

According to the publication, the British man posted his story on Reddit as a warning to other users of similar medications. He strongly urged people to pay close attention to any unusual changes in their bodies.

"The medication effectively masked the true cause of my weight loss. Looking back at the situation now, I realize there were clear warning signs. I reported them to my doctor, but even he attributed them to side effects," the 47-year-old man, whose name has not been disclosed, noted bitterly.

He began taking the weight loss medication when his body weight reached 121 kilograms. During the first two months of taking it, he managed to lose 14 kilograms. However, one morning the man was shocked by his reflection - the weight began to disappear at an alarming rate. The rapid weight loss continued even after he stopped taking the medication.

"Even before starting the medication, I ignored a serious danger sign - for almost a month I couldn't properly empty my bowels, while continuing to lose weight. There was no pain or discomfort - just nothing," the patient recalls.
