Scientists: Walking speed is more important than step count for health improvement
As reported by TUT.AZ, well-known general practitioner Hussein Ahmad revealed the secrets of effective walks in a recent interview with HuffPost.
According to the medical expert, thirty-minute walks five times a week will bring maximum benefit to the body. However, it's important to remember that even prolonged walking can be useless if the intensity is insufficient. "Ideally, you should walk fast enough for your body to warm up and your breathing to become heavier, but still be able to maintain a conversation," Ahmad emphasized.
The specialist noted an impressive fact: regular brisk walking can reduce the likelihood of premature death by approximately 20 percent. Notably, the positive effect persists even when the duration of the walk is reduced to 11 minutes.
