Doctors have named categories of people who are not recommended to consume beetroot. The reasons for restrictions are related to the biochemical composition of this popular root vegetable and its specific effects on the body.
As reported by TUT.AZ, Russian gastroenterologist Olga Chistik warns: beetroot is contraindicated in urolithiasis due to its high content of oxalates, which contribute to the formation of kidney stones. In addition, this vegetable has the ability to lower blood pressure, which poses a danger to people suffering from hypotension.
The specialist emphasized that people with gastrointestinal diseases, patients with diabetes, and those prone to allergic reactions should also limit their consumption of beetroot.
