Medical professionals warn: summer plastic surgeries are dangerous for those prone to hyperpigmentation
This was stated by Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Svyatoslav Strelin in an interview with "Gazeta.Ru".
According to the specialist, special caution should be exercised with interventions on exposed areas of the body - face and neck. Summer heat and active solar radiation significantly increase the likelihood of pigmented scar formation. The expert also cautions against laser procedures in these areas due to possible unwanted consequences.
Strelin particularly noted that patients with chronic diseases and those who cannot carefully follow post-operative instructions are recommended to postpone the operation to a more favorable season.
The medical professional shared recommendations for reducing risks during surgical interventions in the hot period. He explained that high temperatures can cause dehydration, slow down recovery processes, and increase the risk of blood clot formation. Therefore, it is critically important to consume at least two liters of water daily during the rehabilitation period. It is also recommended to limit salt, alcoholic beverages, and caffeine consumption.
During the first 4-6 weeks after surgery, one should avoid overheating the body and intense physical activity to prevent swelling or bleeding. At the same time, leisurely walks can have a beneficial effect on the recovery process.
Strelin emphasized the importance of proper care for the surgical area: it is necessary to maintain cleanliness, change dressings in a timely manner according to the doctor's instructions, and avoid contact of the wound with unwashed hands. Compression garments should be kept clean throughout the entire recovery period.
If the first signs of infection are detected - redness, swelling, discharge, or elevated temperature - the specialist strongly advises seeking qualified medical help immediately.
