Apple started integrating Siri into WhatsApp and other applications

Apple is testing a revolutionary version of Siri with support for popular apps

According to well-known insider and Bloomberg correspondent Mark Gurman, Apple is actively testing an updated version of the Siri voice assistant. The new system will be able to interact with a range of popular third-party applications, including WhatsApp, Uber, AllTrails, Threads, Temu, Amazon, YouTube, and Facebook (owner Meta is recognized as extremist in Russia and is banned).

The enhanced Siri will provide users with the ability to fully control app functions using voice commands. Users will be able to find and edit photos, post comments on Instagram (owner Meta is recognized as extremist in Russia and is banned), add items to shopping carts in shopping apps, or log into services without needing to touch the screen. Essentially, the voice assistant will interact with applications just as precisely as the user would, working directly within their interfaces.

The updated Siri is based on Apple Intelligence technologies and an improved App Intents system. Apple claims that the new Siri will have improved understanding of the user's personal context, awareness of what's happening on the screen, and deeper control over applications. These features will be available on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and will also extend to Apple Vision Pro.

In addition to third-party services, Apple continues to test the new Siri with its own applications. An example scenario was provided where an iPhone user asks Siri for information about their mother's flight and lunch plans, based on data obtained from the Mail and Messages apps.

Earlier this year, Apple announced delays for some Siri features, however, CEO Tim Cook recently noted "good progress" in creating a more personalized version of the assistant.

Nevertheless, according to Gurman, the launch of the new Siri in the US is not expected before spring 2026, likely as part of iOS 26.4, iPadOS 26.4, macOS 26.4, and visionOS 26.4 updates in March or April. It's noted that the new Siri will not be available everywhere from day one, and its implementation in some countries may take additional time, as is the case with Apple Intelligence as a whole.

Apple is also considering limiting or disabling some features of the new Siri in banking and medical applications. This is to avoid critical errors that sometimes occurred during internal testing.

Mark Gurman expressed confidence that if the updated Siri works successfully, it will finally bring to life the voice control that Apple envisioned almost a decade and a half ago.
