New WMO forecast: with 80% probability one of the next five years will break the temperature record of 2024
As reported by TUT.AZ, the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, Roman Vilfand, announced alarming data from the World Meteorological Organization at a press conference on Wednesday.
According to the meteorologist, the recent WMO report causes serious concern in the scientific community. According to forecasts, with an 80% probability, at least one year in the period 2025-2029 will exceed the temperature record set in 2024. An even more alarming trend is the increase in average annual temperatures. Experts warn that with a 70% probability, within the next five years, global warming may temporarily exceed the critical mark of 1.5 °C relative to the pre-industrial level. This boundary is considered key within the framework of the Paris Climate Agreement.
