UN expresses concern over escalating tensions in Russia-Azerbaijan relations

As reported by TUT.AZ, the official representative of the UN Secretary-General, Stephane Dujarric, made a statement at a press conference, the recording of which is available on the official portal of the United Nations.

"We are closely monitoring the growing tensions between Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation, which have been accompanied by incidents on the territory of both states. We express hope that all disagreements will be resolved through diplomatic means and that the principles of freedom of journalistic activity will be fully respected," emphasized Dujarric.

On June 27 in Yekaterinburg, Russian law enforcement agencies conducted large-scale raids against citizens of Azerbaijani nationality. As a result of the operation, two people died and several were injured. According to information from several media sources, the number of detainees could have reached 50 people.
