Trump responded to a question regarding new sanctions against the Russian Federation

Trump postponed the issue of new sanctions against Russia after a "very good" meeting with Putin in Alaska

"Because of what happened today, I believe I don't need to think about it right now," US President Donald Trump said on August 15 in an interview with Fox News, commenting on the possibility of introducing new restrictive measures against Moscow.

"You know, I think the meeting went very well," the White House head emphasized, evaluating the results of the summit with the Russian leader.

At the same time, the American president did not rule out returning to the sanctions issue in the future. "I may have to think about it in two or three weeks or so, but right now we don't need to think about it," Trump noted.

Recall that on August 15, a meeting between Putin and Trump took place at the Elmendorf-Richardson military base in Alaska. The negotiations lasted more than three hours in various formats: first, the leaders communicated tête-à-tête in the American president's limousine on the way to the main meeting place, and then in a narrow "three-on-three" format. The Russian delegation was represented by Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, while the American delegation included Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Trump's Special Envoy Stephen Witkoff.
