US President Donald Trump announced the imminent start of peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. The sensational statement was made on his Truth Social account after a two-hour telephone conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
According to the American president, the conversation with Putin was constructive, and the parties to the conflict will soon begin discussing the terms of a ceasefire. Trump clarified that all details of the future agreement will be worked out directly between representatives of Moscow and Kyiv.
As the head of the White House noted, the Vatican has already expressed its willingness to provide a venue for peace negotiations. In addition, Trump emphasized significant prospects for the development of economic relations between the United States and Russia after the conflict is resolved.
"Russia is interested in large-scale trade with the US after the end of the war, and I support this. The potential is enormous," the American leader said.
