Scientists warned about a new natural threat

Alarming forecast: global warming may awaken dormant volcanoes. Melting glaciers reduce pressure on magma chambers, which significantly increases the probability of eruptions in different parts of the planet. This is reported by "Komsomolskaya Pravda".

Western Antarctica causes particular concern among specialists, where a real geological threat lurks under the ice thickness - more than a hundred dormant volcanoes that may awaken with the continuing melting of the ice sheet.

The validity of these concerns is confirmed by historical data: approximately 13 thousand years ago, a similar scenario was observed in Chile, when the retreat of glaciers triggered a cascade of devastating volcanic eruptions.
