Scientists have created a tattoo for detecting substances mixed into drinks

Innovative tattoo from South Korea will protect against drugs in drinks

Scientists from South Korea have made a breakthrough in the field of security by developing a temporary tattoo capable of instantly detecting the presence of dangerous substances in drinks, reports Express.

"The sticker, similar to a tattoo, detects the presence of gamma-hydroxybutyrate – a fast-acting nervous system depressant that is often used in sexual assault," – stated in the publication's material.

The operating principle of the device is striking in its simplicity: just dip a finger in the drink and apply a drop to the tattoo. When even a minimal concentration of the narcotic substance is detected, the sticker instantly changes color from yellow to red.

The tattoo retains its new color for at least a month, which will serve as evidence of drink tampering. Moreover, its production does not require expensive technologies.

South Korean researchers hope that soon the tattoo will become inexpensive and will be able to protect the life and health of nightclub visitors.
