Transport Collapse: Mass Cancellations and Flight Delays Engulf Russian Airports
As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to the Baza Telegram channel, air traffic in Russia is experiencing serious disruptions. About 100 flights have been canceled in Moscow airports and St. Petersburg alone, and several hundred have been rescheduled for another time. Many passengers are forced to wait for more than 9 hours.
The most critical situation has developed at Sheremetyevo Airport, where over 170 flights have been delayed and almost 50 completely canceled. "There is now a crowd: arriving passengers mix with those who have not yet left the airport. People have to sit and lie on the floor - there are no free seats even in cafes and business lounges," the publication says.
In St. Petersburg's Pulkovo, more than 30 flights have been canceled and about 100 rescheduled. The airport recently resumed operations after a temporary suspension due to the threat of drone attacks. Because of this, one of the planes that had already departed from Sheremetyevo to Pulkovo was forced to turn around and head back to Moscow.
According to Baza, schedule disruptions have affected not only other Moscow airports but also air harbors in Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Kaliningrad, and several other Russian cities.
