Presidents of Russia and Turkey held telephone talks about the tense situation in the Middle East
A telephone conversation took place between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The focus was on the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, as reported by the Turkish president's office.
During the conversation, the leaders of the two countries also discussed bilateral relations and current regional issues.
Erdogan expressed serious concern about the "spiral of violence" that began after Israel's strike on Iran on June 13. According to the Turkish leader, the escalation of the conflict poses a serious threat to the security of the entire Middle East region. The President of Turkey especially emphasized that issues related to the Iranian nuclear program require exclusively diplomatic solutions.
Vladimir Putin, in turn, expressed gratitude to the Turkish side for organizational support in conducting direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.
