Erdogan and Trump will hold important talks on the sidelines of the NATO summit in The Hague. The high-level meeting will take place late in the evening on June 24.
According to Bloomberg, citing informed sources, the leaders will discuss a whole range of pressing issues affecting the interests of both countries.
The President of Turkey intends to raise the painful issue of the ban on supplying American F-35 fighters to Ankara. It is worth recalling that in 2017, Turkey concluded a deal with Russia for the purchase of S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems, which were delivered to the country two years later. Washington persistently demanded that Turkey abandon the Russian systems in favor of American Patriots, but Ankara showed firmness. In response, the United States excluded Turkey from the program for supplying modern F-35 fighters.
According to agency sources, Erdogan also plans to appeal to Trump with a call to restrain Israel's actions in the Middle East. In addition, the agenda of the negotiations includes the issue of integrating US-supported Kurdish formations into the Syrian army.
