Earth under attack: magnetic storms of record duration covered the planet with the beginning of summer
"The total duration of continuous geomagnetic disturbances as of the current moment is 54 hours," reported specialists from the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, emphasizing that of this time, a whole 48 hours account for magnetic storms.
According to the forecast of an employee of the Institute of Applied Geophysics, the space weather will continue to rage at least until June 3. The intensity of the impact on our planet will vary. The period from 6:00 to 09:00 Moscow time on Tuesday, June 3, was particularly alarming, when the power of the magnetic storm reached the G3 level, which is classified as strong.
Scientists note that these almost 50-hour magnetic disturbances may set a duration record in the current solar cycle.
