Lukashenko for the first time stated he has no plans to participate in the next presidential elections
President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko made an unexpected statement in an exclusive interview with the authoritative publication Time.
"No, I am not planning now, not planning anymore," the Belarusian leader decisively answered to the question about his possible participation in the upcoming presidential elections.
The head of state also dispelled rumors about a possible transfer of power to his younger son Nikolai, emphasizing that he does not consider him as a successor to the presidential post.
According to Lukashenko, the future leader of Belarus may pursue a somewhat different policy, however, the current president expressed hope that his successor would maintain the course toward evolutionary development of the country.
