Italy does not want to execute the ICC warrant for Putins arrest

The Ministry of Justice of Italy ignored the arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) in 2023.

As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, the document was never executed.

"The department has not taken measures to implement the decree of March 17, 2023," the publication notes.

According to the publication, the ICC order "got stuck somewhere in the offices" of the Italian Ministry of Justice. As a result, the international arrest warrant for the Russian leader effectively lost its legal force on the territory of Italy, turning into a simple piece of paper.
