Israel launches large-scale offensive in Gaza Strip under the code name "Gideon's Chariots"
As reported by "Channel 12" citing an official statement from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the military has moved to a new phase of operations in the Palestinian enclave.
"Over the past 24 hours, we have begun widespread attacks and deployed forces to take control of territories in the Gaza Strip. This is part of the initial stage of Operation 'Gideon's Chariots' and the expansion of the campaign in Gaza," the Israeli military statement says.
An announcement also appeared on the official IDF Telegram channel stating that the army "has begun conducting large-scale strikes and mobilizing troops to achieve operational control in areas of the Gaza Strip."
Recall that on May 13, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced his intention to complete the military operation in the Gaza Strip "with full force" in the coming days, which, according to him, will mean the final defeat of the radical Hamas movement.
According to "Channel 12," Israeli forces have transitioned from Operation "Courage and Sword" to a new phase called "Gideon's Chariots," which involves expanding the ground operation with powerful support from air, land, and sea.
