Iran and Russia have signed a large-scale gas memorandum. The first stage of the project plans to import colossal volumes — 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year from Russia.
As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to the Telegram channel "Free Iran," this important information was announced by Iran's Oil Minister Mohsen Paknezhad during the 18th Permanent Commission on Economic Cooperation between Iran and Russia in Moscow.
After careful analysis of possible sea and land routes, the parties agreed to use the land route through the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan (RA).
According to the agreements, Russian gas will be transferred in the Astara region, and the necessary coordination activities between Russia and Azerbaijan on this strategic issue are already being actively implemented.
The ambitious project also provides for a second stage, the details of which will be thoroughly reviewed and finally agreed upon within the established timeframe.
