In Azerbaijan, the Blood Moon will appear for 82 minutes: when and where to watch the eclipse?

Mesmerizing spectacle: "blood Moon" will color the sky in September 2025 over Azerbaijan and Russia

A special astronomical performance awaits residents of Azerbaijan, Russia, and other countries on the night of September 7-8, 2025. The total lunar eclipse, known as the "blood Moon," will last a full 82 minutes, during which the night luminary will acquire a characteristic crimson hue.

The upcoming phenomenon will be particularly impressive as the eclipse will coincide with perigee - the point of maximum approach of the Moon to our planet. Thanks to this coincidence, Earth's satellite will appear noticeably larger than its usual size.

In Azerbaijan, all phases of the eclipse will be perfectly visible. The schedule of the event in Baku time:

beginning of the penumbral phase - around 18:30,

beginning of the partial phase - 19:28,

total phase - 20:30–21:52,

end of the partial phase - around 22:54,

end of the penumbral phase - around 23:52.

The best conditions for observing this rare celestial spectacle will be in almost all of Russia and in Azerbaijan. Only residents of the Far East will be less fortunate - there the Moon will be only partially visible. Observers from Australia, India, Central Asia, Japan, and East Africa will also be able to enjoy the spectacle. However, residents of North and South America will unfortunately not be able to see the total phase of the eclipse.
