Elon Musk claimed decisive role in Trump's victory in US presidential election
Well-known entrepreneur and billionaire Elon Musk made a resonant statement on social network X, attributing to himself a key role in Donald Trump's victory in the presidential election.
"Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Democrats would control the House of Representatives, and Republicans would have 51-49 in the Senate," the businessman wrote on his page.
Relations between Trump and Musk noticeably deteriorated after the latter's departure from government service in late May. A stumbling block was, in particular, the "big and beautiful" tax breaks bill. Musk sharply criticized the document, claiming it would increase the budget deficit and place a heavy burden on American families.
Trump in response suggested that Musk direct criticism personally at him, not at the bill. This provoked a wave of critical statements from Musk toward the Republican.
Earlier, the US President publicly expressed his deep disappointment in Elon Musk.
Recall that Donald Trump won the presidential election in November 2024. During the same period, the Republican Party established control over both chambers of the American Congress. Musk was one of the largest sponsors of Trump's election campaign and later joined his administration as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), created to optimize government spending.
