Major mafia figure captured in Colombia: Giuseppe "Pepe" Palermo, head of the Latin American wing of Italian 'Ndrangheta, falls into the hands of law enforcement
"The National Police of Colombia on July 11, 2025 detained Giuseppe Palermo, also known as Pepe, in Bogota as part of an international operation by authorities from the United Kingdom, Italy, and Europol," announced Colombian President Gustavo Petro.
According to him, Pepe is a coordinator of cocaine trafficking from Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru to Europe and is wanted in 196 countries for international drug trafficking.
