Doctor revealed three clear signs of high cholesterol that can be noticed in the mirror
As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to "Lenta.ru", therapist and endoscopist Nino Javakhia shared information about external manifestations of high cholesterol levels. The specialist considers the first alarming signal to be the appearance of xanthomas - characteristic yellowish plaques on the face, eyelids, or other body parts. These formations represent accumulations of fats under the skin, including cholesterol and triglycerides, and form due to lipid metabolism disorders.
The second important sign can be the so-called corneal arcus - a light or yellowish-white ring that appears around the edge of the eye's cornea. Javakhia noted that this arc forms due to deposits of cholesterol and fats, however, it does not pose a threat to vision.
The doctor named excess weight as the third indicator of elevated cholesterol levels. According to the specialist, people with extra kilograms often prefer high-calorie food with trans fats, which directly contributes to the increase in blood cholesterol levels.
