Sensational discovery: ancient scroll from Hamburg turned out to be a lost Gospel about Christ's childhood

An unexpected turn in the history of biblical research occurred in Germany, where a group of scientists, upon re-examining an ancient manuscript from the collection of the Hamburg State Library, made an amazing discovery. The document, which for decades was considered ordinary correspondence, actually contains a fragment of an apocryphal Gospel with a story about the young years of Jesus Christ.

The breakthrough in the research happened after discovering the name of Jesus in the text. Further deciphering of the papyrus allowed scientists to reconstruct an amazing episode: five-year-old Jesus, playing by the river, created sparrow figurines from clay. When Joseph reprimanded him for violating the Sabbath prohibition on work, the young Christ waved his hand, bringing the clay birds to life, which immediately flew away.

Although this story about Christ's second miracle was already known to religious scholars from other apocryphal sources, the Hamburg find is striking in its antiquity. According to the results of radiocarbon analysis, the papyrus is approximately 1600 years old – it dates back to the IV-V centuries CE, making it one of the oldest written testimonies of this miracle.

Researchers note that while the discovered text does not make changes to the canonical Gospel, it is of exceptional value for understanding the development of early Christian literature and the formation of religious traditions that remained outside the official biblical canon.
