Experts named the best drinks for warming up in winter: tea, coffee and cocoa lead the rating

As reported by TUT.AZ, endocrinologist Margarita Belousova in an interview with "Lenta.ru" talked about the most effective drinks for fighting winter cold.

According to the medical professional, caffeine in tea and coffee actively stimulates the body's heat production, however it is necessary to control the amount consumed. "Adults are recommended to limit consumption to 400 micrograms of caffeine per day, which corresponds to approximately four cups of coffee or tea," - emphasized the endocrinologist. Belousova particularly noted that patients with cardiovascular problems and sleep disorders should significantly reduce consumption of caffeinated beverages.

The endocrinologist also noted the excellent warming properties of sweet drinks. Cocoa and non-alcoholic mulled wine, rich in flavanols and warming spices, effectively raise body temperature in frosty weather. However, the specialist cautions against daily consumption of such drinks due to their high sugar content.

According to the doctor, compote or any other drink with added ginger can be an excellent alternative for winter warming. "Gingerol and shogaol contained in ginger provide a pronounced warming effect," - explained Belousova. At the same time, the medical professional warned that ginger drinks are strictly contraindicated for people with stomach ulcers, gastritis, tendency to bleeding, as well as pregnant and nursing women without prior consultation with a doctor.

In conclusion, the endocrinologist issued an important warning against consuming too hot drinks. According to her words, scalding liquid can potentially lead to the development of esophageal tumors. For safe consumption, the optimal temperature of a drink should not exceed 60 degrees Celsius.
