An ordinary toothbrush can protect against heart attack and stroke — this is the conclusion reached by renowned physician Daniel López Rosetti, who revealed an unexpected connection between oral hygiene and heart health.
As reported by TUT.AZ citing Infobae, the doctor warned: neglecting tooth brushing poses consequences far more serious than cavities or gum inflammation.
The Argentine specialist explained the mechanism of danger as follows: with poor dental care, bacteria actively multiply in the mouth. These microorganisms, along with the toxins they produce, can penetrate the bloodstream and travel throughout the body, reaching the heart among other organs. The result can be endocarditis — a dangerous inflammation of the inner heart lining that disrupts the function of this vital organ.
Rosetti also drew attention to another concerning aspect: chronic inflammatory processes triggered by a neglected oral cavity are classified by the global medical community as risk factors for myocardial infarction and stroke. It turns out that the familiar morning and evening ritual with a toothbrush is not just about maintaining a bright white smile, but a genuine contribution to protecting the cardiovascular system.
