Named part of the face at risk for skin cancer

American dermatologist raises alarm: a forgotten zone when applying sunscreen could cost lives. Leading specialist Michael Park revealed a critically important detail in sun protection that most people ignore. According to the Daily Mail, the expert insists on mandatory application of sunscreen to the ears, neglect of which significantly increases the likelihood of developing dangerous forms of skin cancer.

According to the specialist, the two most common types of malignant skin neoplasms are melanoma and carcinoma. Melanoma is considered the most aggressive form and is responsible for approximately 80% of all deaths from skin cancer. This type ranks second in prevalence in the UK and forms in the upper layer of the epidermis.

"In 90% of cases, the disease is caused by exposure to ultraviolet radiation, including sunlight and visits to tanning beds, which means it can be prevented," emphasized Dr. Park.

The specialist also noted: "The most common type of skin cancer - aggressive squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck - can also be deadly, however it does not progress as quickly".

Despite the fact that non-melanoma forms, such as basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas, often respond well to treatment, most cases require surgical intervention, especially when detected late.

Dr. Park strongly recommends daily use of sunscreen with special attention to the ears - one of the most vulnerable and often ignored areas.

"There are certain areas where neoplasms are more common. Ears are one such place," warned the expert.
