Woman spent $8,600 on wrinkle treatment, believing it would stop her husband from cheating

Chinese woman gave away all her savings for "rejuvenation," believing it would save her marriage from husband's infidelity

A resident of Henan province in China became a victim of dubious promises from a cosmetic clinic, parting with all her savings. The 58-year-old woman with the surname Cui believed local "specialists" who claimed that her wrinkles were the cause of family problems, reports the South China Morning Post.

A surgeon from the clinic located near the patient's home convinced her that "crow's feet" around the eyes symbolize marital infidelity, and the folds between the eyebrows foretell troubles for children. Moreover, the woman was made to believe that her flat nose was preventing financial prosperity.

Falling for the manipulation, the trusting patient gave the clinic $8,600 – all of her savings, including money set aside for her grandson's education. On the same day, she underwent more than ten procedures involving hyaluronic acid filler injections in her face and neck. However, in the evening, the woman's condition sharply deteriorated: she experienced severe headaches, nausea, and problems with eating.

When the victim's daughter approached the clinic demanding a refund, she was told that this issue could only be resolved through court. Currently, based on the family's complaint, local regulatory authorities have begun investigating the medical facility's activities.
