# Trump Weighs Diplomacy with Iran, Will Decide on Strikes in the Next Two Weeks
US President Donald Trump sees opportunities for a diplomatic solution to the Iranian nuclear issue and plans to make a decision within two weeks regarding potential military strikes on the Islamic Republic's facilities.
At a press briefing, White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt reported that the American leader has taken a cautious wait-and-see position.
"Given the significant possibility of negotiations with Iran, which may or may not take place in the near future, I will make a decision on further actions within two weeks," she quoted Trump's statement. "The President will decide within a two-week period," Leavitt emphasized, commenting on the possibility of American strikes on Iran.
Earlier, the White House chief did not rule out the possibility of a military scenario regarding Iran. According to a publication by Axios on June 17, citing informed sources, Trump is considering the option of the United States joining Israel's military operation with American forces striking the Islamic republic's nuclear facilities.
Recall that Israel began a military operation against Iran on the night of June 13. Less than a day later, the Islamic republic carried out a retaliatory strike. In the following days, the countries continued to exchange strikes. Both sides report casualties and confirm hits on various facilities. Mutual attacks continue.
