Two men rushed to save a drowning disabled child and drowned themselves

In Japan, two people drowned while trying to save a drowning disabled teenager. This was reported by Japan Today (JT).

The tragedy unfolded on July 5 in the small town of Kamikatsu in Tokushima Prefecture. An organization helping children with disabilities was conducting a camping retreat for their charges on the picturesque bank of the Katsuura River.

The dramatic events developed around 2:00 PM, when a 42-year-old employee of the organization and an 18-year-old graduate noticed a teenager who began drowning while swimming. Without hesitation, they rushed to help, but the powerful current of the river proved stronger - both rescuers were carried away by the water flow.
